Our Lesson Program

Ride with Confidence, Grow with Purpose

At BNR Stables, our western horsemanship program is designed to give riders of all levels the opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with horses in a supportive and welcoming environment. Whether you’re new to riding, an experienced equestrian, or someone with special needs, our lessons are tailored to help you develop your skills at your own pace, ensuring that every rider experiences the joy and personal growth that comes with working with horses.

Lessons are available for riders ages 5 and up, including adults and those with special needs. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and providing an environment where everyone can benefit from the therapeutic, confidence-building, and fun experience of riding.

What to Expect in Our Lessons

Our lessons go beyond just learning to ride—they focus on the complete horsemanship experience. Each lesson is designed to help you develop a deeper understanding of your horse, improve your riding skills, and build the confidence to handle a variety of situations in the saddle. We emphasize safe riding practices, effective communication with horses, and the bond between horse and rider.

Lesson Structure

Each lesson meets riders where they are, with clear, achievable goals. Hands-on instruction combines riding skills with horse care, behaviour and horsemanship, helping riders build confidence and understanding as they progress.

Private Instruction Group — 45 minutes

For riders new to horses or developing their foundation. Three riders participate at the same time, each receiving dedicated one-on-one instruction. Lessons focus on horse handling, grooming, riding posture, balance and control.

Semi-Private Instruction Group — 60 minutes

For riders ready to build on the basics and become more independent. Up to four riders work with two instructors, receiving additional guidance as they strengthen their riding and horse care skills.

Intermediate Group — 60 minutes

For riders developing greater independence and control. Up to four riders work with one instructor, refining their skills through gait transitions, patterns and activities that build confidence and communication with their horse.

Advanced Group — 60 minutes

For experienced riders ready for new challenges. Up to four riders work with one instructor, refining technique, developing advanced manoeuvres and deepening their horsemanship knowledge in a supportive group setting.

We’ll help you find the right fit. Lesson levels are reviewed between sessions, with any changes taking effect at the start of the next session.
